Sabellaria bellis Hansen, 1882 and S. wilsoni Lana & Gruet, 1989 were recorded in different habitats from coastal localities of Uruguay and Argentina, between 34°S and 37°S, Argentinean Biogeographic Province. Local distribution patterns in relation with the hydrography are discussed. Our findings show that both species are tolerant to salinity changes.

Key words: polychaetes, benthos, distribution, South Atlantic
