A first record of the holocephalian Hydrolagus pallidus Hardy & Stehmann, 1990, in waters of the Southeastern Pacific ocean on the basis of one male specimen 660 mm TL is communicated. The finding occurred in the easternmost area of the Juan Fernandez submarine dorsal. The morphometric measurements of the specimen studied are compared with those described for the holotype. Short comments are added and a currently prepared taxonomic key to distinguish Chilean Holocephali is included.

Key words: Holocephali, Hydrolagus, ichthyogeography, Southeastern Pacific
